When home teachers ask...

When Home Teachers ask if there is anything they can do for you and you say no, there is bound to be a problem. Our home teachers came and visited and everything was good. They left and we got ready for bed. Then I checked on David at 10:30 and heard water running. We checked the entire house and found nothing running. So we went outside to find water running out of the grass, down the hill onto the sidewalk!!! We called the city and they came out to TRY and turn off the Water Main into the house. 2 cops, mike and the city worker could not get the thing to turn 1/4 a turn. So they left it running for the night and said they would be back in the morning. Around 2am (of course I couldn't sleep) we found the water had migrated and was coming up in another spot. under the basketball hoop. A 2 inch high water spout. it spread out over the entire driveway. It was a muddy mess, as it dug the dirt out of the flower bed and strew it all over the driveway. The kids were really excited to see it in the morning. they tried to stop it for us by filling the holes with leaves! How Cute! The City came back around 8 am and they brang a escavator. They asked me if I wanted to save my BEAUTIFUL Tree or my curbing! Well of course my Favorite tree. So they did, kinda. They took out the roots on one side. They dug down 10 feet to get to the bottom of the valve. then they had to take half the piping off to get it to turn off. But finally around 9:30 they got the water turned off. Too bad I didnt take a shower first! Also the dishwasher was running!! They left the dirt in the street and roped off the hole and said to let them know when we get our pipes fixed and they will replace their valve and fill the hole. So mike started digging a line to the house. We decieded that we couldnt dig 4 feet down from the street into the house by our selves. So we are waiting for help. We called Mikes Dad and he knows what to do. So Dad and Lane are coming over today to help Mike get it all done. We are getting a minni escavator to dig it out and then having to run a new line into the house. Drilling a hole in the foundation and running a pipe in the basement celing through the house into the laundry room. We didnt have water all day untill our neighbors (home teachers) came home around 4! They are so awesome to let us tie into their house to get water into our house! We took showers and ate dinner. Finally let the dishwasher finish and now I am getting some laundry done before they turn it off again today to get the work done. We did fill water jugs sunday night so that we had water to flush the toilet with and brush our teeth. I am just hoping that all goes well today and it gets done and everyone is safe doing it.
